Common questions

How do I get room sizes from a floor plan?

Import the floor plan picture (a screenshot works) and the rooms are found and sized from the room sizes printed on it or the home’s width. Check each room, then open the Sizes tab for the full list by level.

Are the room sizes measured inside the walls?

By default, yes: the size is taken inside the walls, about 4 to 6 inches less than a plan measured to the middle of the walls. Switch to “to the middle of the walls” to match the drawing.

Is the total the home’s official square footage?

No. The total adds up the rooms on the plan marked to count, measured to the middle of the walls. It isn’t an appraisal or an ANSI measurement. Follow your MLS’s and your state’s rules for reporting square footage, and say sizes are approximate.

Can I change a room’s name or size?

Yes. Click the room in the list or on the plan, then change its name or size in the bar at the top. The list updates as you go.

These use the same saved floor plans as the 3D Floor Plan Maker.
